How to Make a Tiny Desk AI Video (Step by Step, With Photo Tips)

Updated 2026-10-27

Short answer: pick one sharp, front-facing photo of the person who should be the lead singer, optionally add a photo of a friend for the sax solo, confirm everyone agreed, and pay with credits. A few minutes later you download an 18-second vertical video with the "Outstanding" audio already on it, plus a silent copy. No app, no editing.

What you need

Required?What it is
Lead singer photoYesThe person who cracks up laughing in the close-up
Sax friend photoNo, same priceThe person who plays the sax solo
CreditsYes100 credits per video, with or without the friend
Keyboard, drums, bassNot replaceableAI-made musicians, not real people

Step 1: Choose the lead singer photo

This photo decides most of the result, because the lead singer gets the close-up. The AI builds a lookalike from it, so give it as much clear face as you can.

Use a photo that is:

A smile helps. The close-up is a big laugh, so a photo with a natural smile or open expression gives the AI more to work with than a serious passport-style face.

Avoid: group shots, tiny images saved from a chat, screenshots of screenshots, and photos of children (not allowed).

Step 2 (optional): Add a friend on sax

Add a second photo and that person replaces the sax player in the solo. It costs the same as a solo video, so if you have someone to tag, add them.

The same photo rules apply, with one difference: the sax shot is wider than the laughing close-up, so a waist-up photo with the face clearly visible works well. Leave the slot empty and the sax solo stays with the AI band's own player.

Step 3: Confirm consent

Tick the box to confirm the photos are of you, of adults who agreed, or of a public figure for parody. Public figures (coaches, players, celebrities) are allowed for parody and fan edits, the same way the original coaches video did it. The video must not be presented as real, used to harass anyone, or used in ads. No children, no nudity.

Step 4: Pay with credits

The video uses 100 credits. If you are signed in with enough credits, it is taken from your balance. If not, you choose a credit pack at checkout:

PackPriceTiny Desk videos
100 credits$9.901
300 credits$19.903
600 credits$34.906

Credits never expire. If the video fails to generate, the 100 credits go back to your account automatically. AI results vary and there are no free remakes, which is why the photo steps above matter. If the finished video is clearly broken (a missing face, a frozen clip), use the form linked from the refund policy. Credits you have not used can be refunded on request.

Step 5: Wait a few minutes

Generation usually takes a few minutes. You can close the page: we email you when the video is ready, and the order page keeps working.

What you get

A 17.7-second vertical (9:16) 720p MP4 that plays like this:

TimeWhat happens
0–5 sThe band grooves at the desk with headsets on
5–12 sClose-up: the lead singer (your photo) cracks up laughing mid-song
12–15 sSax solo (your friend, if you added one)
15–18 sThe band again to close

You get two files:

The voice is the original male vocal from the clip the meme is based on. Everyone gets the same recording, whoever is in the photo.

Download the files within 7 days; after that the video is deleted. Your uploaded photos are deleted 2 days after upload.
